Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don't have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the bill for items and services.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate.

Why this applies to you
I don't bill insurance directly, so every client pays for sessions themselves. That means you're entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of your expected costs before we begin, whether or not you ask for one.
When you'll receive it
Your Good Faith Estimate is part of the intake paperwork that goes out as soon as you schedule your first session, so you'll have it in writing well before we begin.
You can also ask for one earlier, including while you're still deciding whether to book. Just email me and I'll send it over.
My standard fees
- $300 for the 90 minute intake session
- $265 for a 50 minute session
- Intensive rates are quoted individually
Your Good Faith Estimate will reflect the services we expect to schedule, and how often. Because therapy is ongoing, the estimate is based on a reasonable expectation of your course of care and may be updated if that changes.
What the estimate doesn't include
The Good Faith Estimate covers only the services I provide. It doesn't include costs from any other provider you may see, and it isn't a contract that obligates you to continue.
If your bill is higher than expected
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may be eligible to dispute it through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process. You'll need to start that process within 120 days of receiving the bill. Keep a copy of your estimate so you can compare it with any bills you receive.
You're always welcome to raise a billing question with me directly first. Most questions can be resolved simply.
